Before I start... I should inform you that this is a very very sad story.
A couple months before I moved up to Utah, I discovered this little secondhand store called La Tienda and if my 4 years of spanish classes served me right "La Tienda" means "the store". (I would look it up to double check, but frankly I am too upset at the moment.) At this store there were a few gems hidden within a bunch of old lady stuff, which is good for me because I love the hunt of thrifting. It's so much better when you find something amazing after searching high and low. The strangest/funniest part about this store is that the owner had installed a TV in a central location of the store and played some kind of religious tapes of preachers yelling out sermons. I am not even sure what religion it was, but I was perplexed. The entire experience was strange, but I went back several times because I could always find something to love. The last time I went before I left for Utah I found these:
To date, these are probably my favorite brooches I have ever owned. EVER! I wore them all the time because they made me feel... good. Maybe it was the fact that for the first time in my life I had a golden chair and silver spoon. I would often stare at the little chair because I almost felt like I could sit in it if I was a tiny person, but it was flat. I was once again baffled.
Then I moved to Utah and was so very excited to wear my silver spoon and golden chair brooches for my new friends to see. Then the worst thing in the entire world happened... I LOST MY GOLDEN CHAIR!!!! I was devastated. So devastated that I have not worn my silver spoon since that terrible day. I know this seems a little too dramatic, and I agree... but I can't help the fact that I fell apart over a missing chair. It was sad. That crappy webcam photo is all I have left of once was.
I am not sure if I will ever get over this. Ever.

100% Snow...
It is just one of those days where you find out that there is a 100% chance of snow tonight and everything goes downhill from there. I mean come on… 100% chance? The weather man is so sure that he is risking his career on it! I have never ever heard of a 100% chance of anything weather related!
After my depression about the snow that will be dropping on absolutely everything that I like not being covered with snow; I decided to check my bank account. To my horror I saw that I had apparently spent over 400 dollars yesterday. Either someone stole my credit card info and bought a small boat, or I sleep walked to the store and bought a small boat. I realize that whatever happened a small boat was probably the least likely thing that could have been purchased… But I also know that me spending over 400 dollars in my sleep was the least likely. Oh the irony… So the only possible thing could have been someone stealing my credit card info and buying a boat, or maybe a safe to put all the money they steal in, or maybe a pure bread dog, or maybe cat skin boots, or maybe they just blew it on cheese balls. I would rather they had boughten something important… So as every one in the world would be… I completely freaked out! I even left work 5 minutes early which I never do! I always wait until 5:00 exactly. So I go to the bank and talk to this handsome banker who was so very kind to inform me that my identity had NOT been stolen. *huge sigh of relief* Some freak accident apparently happened. All will be well on Monday when I can talk to the person who made the mistake. So until then I have like 10 bucks. There goes my weekend plans…
Thats not even the end of the horribleness of a story that I am telling you lovely people who so kindly read my blog. You are probably thinking “How could her day get any worse?!” The next event that I am about to tell you about is not all that bad… but it just added to my already stressed and pretty mad self.
So after the bank I go to my local pharmacy to pick up a prescription. The lady then tells me that they tried to bill my insurance but those idiot people that I my parents pay to cover my health stuff told the pharmacy technician that my insurance card was expired. That is a bunch of BS. I have a theory. They just don’t want to pay my $400 prescription! So I call my mom to get the information off her insurance card only to get no answer. Then I call again and it is busy. Then I call like 50 more times and it is still busy. So I leave the store defeated. “I will pick up the dang prescription tomorrow” I say to myself. As I get into my car I decided to try calling one more time. Still busy. I then try 50 more times and still busy. When I get home I try one more time and it rings. “YES!” I exclaim. You will not believe what happens next. NO ONE ANSWERS! I am ashamed to admit that I let out 3 obscenities. I cannot even remember the last time I said that awful word that I screamed in the safety of my car… I then apologized, then laughed at myself, and then almost cried. I finally talked to my dad (my mom is in Houston!?!) I mean really. Where is she when you need her…
So that was the day that I had. Or evening I should say. And I was going to buy some dang hot chocolate from the store because nothing makes me feel better like hot coco on a snowy day. But I forgot. How do you forget that?
Happy Friday.

New Semester
I cannot believe that the summer is over. It went by way to fast. I feel like I have accomplished nothing. Ok, I don’t just feel that way. I kinda didn’t. The wedding took up most of my time. I wish that I had had more time to relax after the chaos that occurred this past weekend. I will admit that I was a little excited for school to start. Mostly because of my World Civilization and drawing class. The strange thing is that I hardly did any preparation. Normally I would have been ready days ahead of time, but I had to rush the night before.
But today turned out pretty good. I only had my World Civ. and drawing today, tomorrow I have three classes; all of which I am dreading. So much so that I can’t even remember what they are…
Although I firmly believe that I was not ready to be back in school, it did feel good to be in the SLC again. I just wish I could spend my entire college career there. I don’t want to give up my small classes, and close parking spot to the crowded Provo campus.
Today I wore my all time favorite eye glass clip. I think this may have been the first one I ever made. This is a clipping from Seventeen Magazine from 1965 I believe. I wish that Seventeen Magazine was like it used to be…. It is so amazing. All the illustrations, ads, and styles. I don’t remember what this illustration was advertising, but I thought it was appropriate for the first day back to school. I call it “Read some books, gain some knowledge.”
If you are wondering about this creation… I must tell you that it is an eye glass lens that I got from a thrift store that I made into a hair clip. I am still working on perfecting these things, and someday I hope to sell these in my Etsy shop, but I just don’t think they are ready yet…
Well, I must hit the sack. I’ve got school tomorrow… 8|
