I'm Alive.

If your wondering, or maybe your not, how my moving/road tripping went, well... I am alive! The drive from South Texas to Salt Lake City is loooong. So very long.
Imagine this: You driving a little over 24 hours in a two seater truck with two other people that are male and both over six feet tall. So cramped.
I was really worried that the trip was going to be terrible, but I surprisingly had a really good time. There wasn't a dull moment. I took a bunch of pictures on the road, and have a few stories to tell but I'll save them for later. You see, I haven't full recovered from my travels and lack of sleep, and I haven't really had the chance to relax just yet. But I am enjoying Utah, seeing my Utah friends, and the cooler weather. It will be back to normal soon. I promise!

This week.

I am moving this Thursday... and I haven't packed anything. Nothing. Nada. It doesn't help that it's Shark Week... I thought that watching TV while packing was a good idea. No it's not. I spend more time being fascinated by great white sharks eating stuff than actually putting things into boxes. It's a sad reality when you discover that you only have a few days of summer left, and those days are to be spent preparing for the school semester. The end of the summer really crept up on me. I am starting to panic.

Basically what I am saying is that I might not be around much this week. I might not get a chance to respond to emails as quickly as i'd like, or read all of your lovely blogs. I am also really sorry that I didn't post a Grateful Sunday post. I wanted to, but I am trying to soak up every last bit of summer. I do have a couple posts planned for this week so it won't be completely quiet around here.

P.S. I am having a really hard time trying to balance spending time with all my family and friends, and getting everything ready for my move. Do you have any advice on spreading out the little time I have left before I leave? I feel so bad that I can't spend time with everyone.

Road Trip Snap Shots

Amidst the craziness of moving. I completely forgot about Record Tuesday. I suppose I will post some music later today and call it Record Thursday for just this once... sorry.

Today was our third day on the road. I am so tired of being in the car right now. We are currently in the middle of nowhere Texas and I surprisingly have phone service. Basically I am trying to find something to occupy my endless amounts of road time... Why is Texas so big?! I mean really... Ok that was out of line... In all honesty, Texas should be bigger, and only a native born Texan would say that. All I am saying is that after a day and a half of driving we finally reach the Texas border and still have 10 hours to drive.

The following are some snapshots I took on my phone of our trip. I've been taking lots of pictures with my digital camera (and film camera). The plan is to post all of those pictures and adventure stories throughout the next week. I will also be introducing a new blog series!

Summer Is Here!

I have been waiting for this day for a very long time. I just finished giving my final presentation and turning in the essay that took me what seemed like three years to write... It's hard to believe that the semester is over. I am so happy that I don't have anything stressful to think about anymore. The weird thing is that I don't have any thing stressful to think about. I feel like I have been stressing for ages. The college life cannot be good for my health.

The next week is still going to be crazy though. Tuesday will be the beginning of my long drive home to Texas. I am so excited to go home spend time with family, spend long days basking in the sunshine and laying in the sand, and most of all... being able to do all the things I have been wanting to do but never did for lack of time. This summer is going to a productive one! I have an entire journal full of craft and do it yourself projects that I have dying to get my hands on. This means that I will finally be fulfilling my new years resolution of do it yourself features on my blog! It will be amazing to finally put all these ideas to good use. I have so many exciting things planned for this summer. I only hope that I can fit them all in!

And because blog posts are funner when they have pictures.
Here are a few pictures from home I took last summer.

Are you ready for summer?

Empty

Right now I am sitting in my almost empty room. It brings me back to the day when my Dad remodeled this room from his office into my room, and how I spent most my time decorating it to my liking.
My room has been like a chameleon. I have moved around my furniture in every way possible and then some. I have brought things in and thrown things out. I remember back when I was 10 or so I had collected the pictures from animal calendars and taped them up all over my walls. I loved animals. I have gone through so many phases. Isn’t it funny how our room changes with us? But then we have these few select things that stay the same? Like a small box filled with special rocks that seem insignificant to others but significant to you. Or that picture of two random people you don’t know, but somehow you feel like you do know them just because you have looked at them all your life, and can’t seem to give that imaginary relationship up.
The things I have are a reflection of who I am. A girl with a passion for vintage, and age. Scatterbrained, orderly, colorful, crafty, random, and so much more. Keep those things that remind you of memories.
I often find myself looking around my room and reminiscing.
Don’t ever feel embarrassed about your space. Don’t feel like you need to change it to please others. Surround yourself with the things that make you happy and nothing more. You are you. Your space is you. Love it.

The Beginning.

Opening a new chapter, taking a step forward, diving in head first….
Is that what I am about to do?! Pioneering into a new situation? As heart wrenching as it may seem. Am I excited? Partly. Am I sad? Partly. Am I afraid? Yes. Am I ready? More then ever.
I am moving in 16 days to a far off land called Utah. Why Utah I have been asked many times… I say why not? It is something I must do. So this is the beginning. The beginning of my adulthood. And with this blog I hope to record the life lessons I learn, the adventures I have, the wisdom I gain, and the time it takes me to realize that I have exceeded the expectations that others have set for me, but most importantly the expectations I have set for myself. Simple yet so complicated life is… Maybe I’ll figure it out, maybe I won’t.
