Wish List

Since we just recently celebrated the 4th of July and were all patriotic and stuff, I was thinking about what it means to be an American. Amongst other things, I thought about how us Americans just love some good ole fashioned consumerism. We like to buy. That got me thinking about my poor college life, and how I don't get to enjoy that as much. Don't get me wrong, I am glad to have financial struggles now. Why? because I have become much thriftier and more wise with my finances. I think that these years are a learning process that will later allow me spend wisely even when I have money to spend. I do look forward to the day when I can afford to splurge a little on a pair of shoes, but until then i'll be window shopping.

I am completely in love with these shoes. I first saw them on Keiko Lynn and immediately fell in love. Then a couple weeks later I went vintage shopping in Austin. One of the shops had them on sale for $40. I almost bought them, but I thought that I could find them online for cheaper. I forgot about them until today when I saw THIS post on Keiko Lynn. I have been searching for an hour and I can't find anything even less than double what they were in Austin. I am kicking myself for not getting them. So if you know of anywhere that has these for cheap. I will love you forever.
I have been on the hunt for new bedding for my new apartment and smaller bed size (sleeping on a full has ruined me. I'm going to have a hard time switching back to a twin). I don't why it is so hard to find beautiful bedding on a college student budget. I need to sleep with this set from Anthropologie. But I can tell you now... it's not going to happen.
I dream about this dress too often.
Since I'll be living so close to school (and everything else) next semester, I hope to ride my bike everywhere to save money, and exercise. This is basically my dream bike.
This watch is so beautiful.

I just noticed that everything that I shared today (exceptfor the bedding) is blue. Apparently that's my favorite color today. What's on your wish list?

  2. That bedding is beautiful! I have so much on my wishlist right now but am trying be more conscious about what I spend (rather than just whipping me debit card out like I normally do).

    1. I know! I pretty much dream about sleeping with it. Oh the irony. It is definitely hard to control spending when using a debit card because you don't really know what your spending until you check online. It's terrible. I need to be better about it too.

    1. I know. I so wish that I could find them for 40 again, because I would get them. I normally wouldn't... but I think I would make an exception.

  4. Ha as I was scrolling down through the list I noticed it was mostly blue too! Mannn those are some pretty pieces! I especially love the bedding and sweet little dress. And the bike!

I think I agree with you on how having to be thrifty now will help us later! When I'm like a gazillionaire I hope I'm still thrifty and resourceful. Great post : )

    1. I think that it's important to struggle a little just so you can learn to appreciate it more. I hope to be the same way when I am very rich! :)

  5. Those shoes are darling. Wow...someone's trying to tell me something because a few of the posts I've read today have been about being financially frugal.
p.s. That dress is also super awesome!

  6. I can identify with this post on so many levels! My little brother told me the other day that he thinks uni students seem to enjoy being poor when I got excited over my $10 pair of thrifted glasses (and then proceeded to tell me he'll have $50,000 saved by the time he graduates. Ah that kid has a lot to learn) :P Even though I definitely don't enjoy having to budget down to a tee, it did make me think that I have learnt to be a lot wiser with my money, so there's definitely an upside to it :)

I also get the Halo thing! Whenever I hang out with one group of my friends, who are mostly guys, it's always halo and counterstrike and games that involves guns and it usually ends with me feeling sad and curling up in a corner hahaha. One day, I'll get better at it... Maybe :P

Lovely list! I particularly like the bike! Good luck with the shoe hunting - I'll let you know if I find anything like it :) Rhi xx

    1. Haha! I wish that I could save that much money throughout college! I am glad there is someone out there that understands my Halo situation. I really love hanging out with the guys, but now I am sort of feeling like I am considered one of the guys... which is not ok. They have this thing called "Gentlemen's Evening" that I always wondered about, but now I pretty much know what goes on because I am a part of it. The other day I had my brother train me in Halo so that I could actually have a chance playing against them. How sad is that? haha
